Madison Torio
Born and raised in the Bay Area, California, I grew up surrounded by an appreciation of the arts. Murals, music, fashion, and poetry painted life into the streets I walked. I spent my childhood wandering Telegraph Avenue in Berkeley and running around Lake Merritt in Oakland. I moved to San Luis Obispo on the central coast to study child development, missing some of that color in my life before finding it renewed in the close friendships I made and continue to hold on to.
Three years after landing my dream teaching job back in the Bay Area, the school I’d once idolized shut its doors. What was an unexpected ending to hundreds of incredible educators was the gift-wrapped push I needed to follow through on long expired promises I’d once made to myself. It felt like every road that had become overshadowed was suddenly clear and beckoning. Within two weeks of the school doors closing I was on a plane, taking to the skies before exploring any roads. Newly untethered, I revelled in the streets of Paris and lounged around Vondelpark in Amsterdam. It was during these moments and many others from my early days of unemployment that the inspiration for my first collection of paintings emerged.
About the Collection
My debut collection features paintings I created as I was getting to know myself again. Putting brush to paper again for the first time in far too long brought color back into my life that I hadn’t realized had faded. I was painting without purpose, but full of intention. Suddenly I was back in my hometown wandering the same streets, yet noticing the little things that life had once jaded. These paintings brought me so much joy to create and I hope they can bring as much vibrancy to your space as they have to my life.
About the Prints
Each order is printed, packed, and shipped from the Artelo facility in Lexington, Kentucky. Artelo uses Giclée printing, which is a process commonly used by galleries and museums to produce high quality prints from high resolution inkjet printers. Printed on archival matte paper, the color and detail on each print is a beautiful reproduction of the original works. At 230 GSM, this neutral-white matte paper is perfect for art prints. Frames are made of natural oak and have a 1-2 mm thick, real glass panel holding in the print.
